Normal Is Good (” I like America and America likes me”) 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Film screening and talk Normal Is Good (” I like America and America likes me”) confronts current circumstances in American society at the intersection of fashion, film, and performance through the fashion line Normal Is Good. It comes from the artist’s experience living in US as an outsider after having left Cuba in 2010.

Division of Labour Party 5:00 – 7:00 pm This is a weekly open meeting to divide work, exchange ideas and share concerns.

“Welcome to the Terror-dome” Open Breakdance Practice University of Hip-Hop hosts “Welcome to the Terror-dome” open breakdance practice, Wednesdays in July, 7:00 – 10:00 pm (and hopefully beyond, as we create the schedule!)

Stony Island Summerz–Poetry Peanut Butter and Jams Potlucks 7:30 – 10:00 pm. Come by and enjoy Stony Island Summerz–Poetry Peanut Butter and Jams Potlucks. Poets, MCs and musical artist are invited to share their works and join with a community of artists celebrating spoken word and rap music. MC’d by the Human Lunch Box and Beloved of Stony Island rap crew, and DJ.d by Milly Mango, join us twice a month, 7:30 – 10:00 pm, for poetry performances and local artist exhibits.

Please bring a dish to contribute to the potluck supper. A relaxed and exciting environment welcomes families and the radical community. See you there!

2nd Story storytelling workshop 2:00 – 4:00 pm. This summer, in conjunction with our Night Out in the Parks performance (at Elm Park on Saturday, August 1 at 3:00 pm), 2nd Story will be offering FREE storytelling workshops to the public, one at SHoP on Saturday, July 25th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Participate in brainstorming exercises, explore what makes a great narrative, and discover how to craft your real-life piece for an audience, all in 2nd Story’s uniquely collaborative style. If you love hearing and sharing stories, grab your journal and join the fun!

SMYC Summer Intensive Dance Camp

Friday June 26th to August 21st 2015 Monday – Friday The SMYC 8 week Summer intensive is The Midwest’s Premiere Breakdance Camp. Young dancers will be engaged Monday through Friday in a fun healthy environment, learning how to breakdance safely. Your dancer will learn the technique, theory, history, of Breakdance & Poppin (popLocking), as well as learning choreography, how to choreograph dances, exploring musicality, developing solos, as well as professional development (media training, photo & video shoots +, +,) performance arts training, field trips and more. Facilitated in a way that cultivates self confidence, social skills, teamwork, discipline, healthy lifestyle practices, and more! Lead by Internationally acclaimed performance/teaching artist and founder/director of the Stick and Move Youth Crew Jonathan St. Clair and a team of specialists in the arts and education.
