SHOP Thrift Store is back!
We have turned our overrun junk shop into a well run community Thrift store. Yes, we finally got it right! Now we just need you! Tell your friends, help us promote it! We have really nice kid’s clothes, designer adult’s clothes, kitchen ware, great original art, nice shoes and great boots, warm winter sherpas, lot’s of books, cool furniture and ephemera, practical things like strollers, trolls, roller blades and bouncy balls! It’s all here, except for you and all the things that you need to let go of (donations accepted and appreciated) to make space in your life for more, new and different!
Come visit us this Saturday the 21st for our grand launch from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drinks and cookies and Free “Thrift Store” poster by Cait Stephans with every purchase of $5 and up!
Our hours are changing!
Please check our website, but generally we are open Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sundays from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. We are open with every event as well and with your volunteer help we can offer even more open hours! If you wish to volunteer, please send us an email or stop by!
Sunday Soup Salons
Join us for a continued series of workshops surrounding the food access issues affecting Hyde Park and its surrounding neighborhoods. Sunday January 22nd, and January 29th, starting at 4:00 pm. We will begin each session by learning how to make a soup recipe, followed by a guest speaker/facilitator who will touch on various food access issues. Facilitators include Ken Dunn of Resource Center Chicago, Samm Petrichos of the Experimental Station, and Alex Poltorak of The Urban Canopy. Again, join us on any of these dates at 4:00 pm for soup making, and 5:30 pm for conversation and our community Potluck dinner! This Sunday’s theme: Grandma’s recipes for winter comfort! Come on out on these cold dreary days for good food and excellent company.
Updates for the next month:
“This House is Not a Home”
Opening February 25th! 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Work in this exhibition responds to the concept of home, as a place and a mindset, a psycho-geography, a set of relationships with things and people, within the home, and surrounding the home, a stage set with social and material parameters, an idea that is perhaps never realized, a story that we tell ourselves and others that is both documentary and fiction… Participating artists to be announced soon!
Zamin will play on February 4th and the 25th, so mark your calendars!
This exhibit will end the first week of February, so please make your appointment to see them soon! All radios are for sale until then so come in and find your favorite. These beautiful radios are destined to be in a solo show at Intuit next year! A request for temporary loan will be given with each purchase.
All donations are tax-deductible through The Resource Center and are deeply appreciated. Families, consider a family membership: $100 for the year gets you a 25% reduction on workshops, classes and concerts and free access to the Open Studio days: materials at hand, art room available, library available for tutoring, game playing and socializing! Contact us about the family sponsorships program.
We look forward to seeing you!
With Kind Regards,
